Aerial Hoop

Aerial hoop, also known as lyra, is a circus apparatus made of steel or aluminum that is suspended in the air. Performers use the hoop to execute acrobatic and dance moves while hanging in the air. It requires strength, flexibility, and grace to perform aerial hoop routines.

What to expect

In an aerial hoop class, you can expect to learn various poses and tricks on a suspended hoop. The class will typically begin with a warm-up and conditioning exercises to prepare your body for the aerial work. You will then learn different moves and sequences on the hoop, building strength and flexibility as you progress.

It's recommended to wear form-fitting clothing that covers the back of your knees and midriff to prevent burns and bruises from the hoop. Avoid wearing jewelry or clothing with zippers or buttons that could damage the hoop or get caught during the class. Additionally, it's best to wear clothing that allows for a full range of motion and doesn't restrict your movement.

Where to start

We suggest you start with an Introduction class which we run as a 4 week course, if you don't see this on the schedule you can start in a level 1 class. The difference between Intro and Level 1, Level 1 classes have students that have been attending class and have developed some basic skill an Intro class is for new students who have not tried pole before. Our instructors will always teach to your level and give you appropriate modifications that suit your ability!
